ABOUT ME
Hi! I am Espoir
I am currently living on Dakota territory in Wabasha MN working for Broken Paddle Guiding and Dancing Gnome Farm and continuing independent projects.
Growing up in the northwoods of Minnesota I have been privileged to have a relationship to the stolen land upon which my family, communities and formative experiences I have had. I was fortunate to be raised bilingually and was able to have a very global upbringing spending my summers at a french immersion summer camp with people from around the world coming together to build community and connections, I began to be fascinated by the relationships between cultures and the forces that have tried to oppress them. This led me to research and travel in western Africa researching the intersection of traditional and modern art forms.
This has brought me to seek to recreate a relationship to the postcolonial spaces in the US that I inhabit and thinking about a movement ecology that can recreate a reciprocal relationship to community and land.
