Artists Statement 

 

As a dancer and a community organizer- I deeply believe that movement happens at the joints, the places where people and forces come together- and where they can be directed towards positive lasting change and supporting those that need it the most. In my site-specific performance I have come to the deep realization that the relationship between individuals, communities, and the places in which they live is a sacred thing. As a dancer I really resonate with Andrea Olsens philosophy that our bodies are the first environment and home that we learn to care for. I move from a place of honoring this and celebrating the interdependence we have as movers and humans. In my work I aim to use this sacred relationship as a launchpad to use art and engagement to catalyze equity, justice, and interdependence.
